Believe it or not, most of the alleged felons locked up in the Harris County Jail were busted as a result of a routine traffic stop by the Houston Police Department, or the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, resulting in drugs/controlled substances or illegally possessed firearms being found.
Once illegal drugs, illegal or illegally possessed firearms, or a combination of both are found, a felony arrest will most likely proceed. In short, a very bad day for the offender.
The Routine Traffic Stop
Whether its a blown red light, a dead headlight, a “rolling stop”, or speeding on Houston’s freeways, there are a number of ways to easily end up in an encounter with the police via traffic stops.
During these stops, the police officer or sheriff’s deputy usually ends up searching the subject’s vehicle whether by consent, probable cause, or by downright violating the person’s 4th Amendment Constitutional right to be secure in their person and possessions.
